The Tug McGraw Foundation Partners with CereScan To Create Invisible Brain Injury Project

The Tug McGraw Foundation is partnering with CereScan Corp. of Denver, CO, and other leading organizations to seek new and more efficient identification of and treatment for invisible wounds such as Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI).
The Invisible Brain Injury Project is aimed at addressing mTBI sustained by current and former military members, and is an endeavor sponsored in part by CereScan, a clinical facility dedicated to state of the art functional brain imaging for the identification of a wide array of brain based disorders. CereScan’s proprietary process includes the latest generation high resolution gamma cameras, highest quality radio-pharmaceuticals from GE Healthcare, industry’s leading brain image reconstruction software, specially trained board-certified physicians and patent pending, research-based, functional brain data warehouse.
The qualified participants involved with the Invisible Brain Injury Project will take part in a three phased approach to address the identification, measurement, and treatment of mTBI’s sustained by members of our armed forces with collaboration from Campbell Consulting and Counseling, BioCare Systems, Inc. and CereScan, Corp. of Denver, CO.
With a focus of accurate and thorough identification of the aforementioned injuries, all candidates will go through initial mTBI screening by CereScan. Investigators will qualify each candidate by measuring the existence of chronic, mTBI. Once candidates have been qualified, they will undergo an innovative protocol of treatments geared at successfully addressing the specific areas of their brain that have shown significant neurological dysfunction.
After completion of the treatment regimen all participants will undergo additional post-treatment functional brain imaging sessions provided by CereScan at predetermined intervals in order to measure changes that occurred as a result of the therapies.
This collaborative effort will be used to conduct a sophisticated medical validation project over a four-month period involving mTBI afflicted military service members. Initial case studies have produced significant results including, the reduction of mTBI symptoms, use of fewer medications, and improved brain functionality and overall quality of life.
