Author’s Touching Memoir Details the Life of a Caregiver
CHICAGO (PRWEB) September 17, 2012
In his touching memoir “Everything Happens for a Reason: Thirty Years as a Caregiver/Advocate” (published by AuthorHouse) author Ron Lampert allows readers an inside look at his life as the primary caregiver to his wife of 35 years.
While married for 35 years, Ron’s wife was severely disabled for 32 of those years. In the end, she would succumb to congestive heart failure, though before her death the ravages of diabetes, including liver malfunction, pancreas abnormities and overall health decline would leave Bobbi unable to fully care for herself.
With heartbreaking honesty, Ron Lampert explains why he chose to stay by his wife’s side and meet his responsibilities as a husband head-on. He also relays the difficulties of managing his own health and sanity while carrying out this huge task. He credits the writing of “Everything Happens for a Reason” to helping him fully mend from the ordeal.
“It was a cathartic exercise for me,” says Ron. “I needed to get the frustrations on paper which allowed me to move on with my life.”
Ron Lampert also delivers a thought-provoking examination of the role of the caregiver. “Now that my wife has passed away, I feel it is time to share some of the more life affecting things a caregiver experiences.”
The real gem of “Everything Happens for a Reason” may be in its ability to shine light on many unspoken realities of the human experience: marriage, responsibility, death, disability, pride, resentment. Ron Lampert dives head first into these weighty topics in hopes of finding a pearl at the bottom of the muck. “I hoped this book would lend itself to those who through no fault of their own are saddled with the care of a loved one and sometimes feel they are alone out there.”
