And to all they gays, hating Mormons and other religions, posting death threats and protesting at our temples, doesn’t make you any better than what you think of us. In fact it makes you worse. Think about that!

LisaNova, you have it all wrong. People do not vote against Prop 8 because they are dumb or hateful. They do it because they want to keep virtue in the lives of their children. They do it because it is the right thing to do. You are young and naive, you don’t understand or know any better.

Then those people would say,”I love my dog, this isn’t right for you to not let me be with him/her.”
If we let our country become corrupt it will become weak and fall! Just like Rome!
Morality is important and homosexuality isn’t moral.
I do not discriminate gays, I know gays, I am friends with gays. None the less I do not encourage it. Why isn’t domestic partnership enough?! You can live and be together.

I don’t think that any one understands! Marriage is between a man and a woman, god intended only marriage between a man and a woman.
Opposites attract.
If it were right for anyone to just go around “loving” any random person, then men and men would have babies. Women and women would have babies.
If we allowed homosexual marriage we would eventually allow bestiality (sex between human and animal).

i don’t think gays should get married because well.. it’s just GAY! pun intended! man, i’m clever! i don’t believe in God and well nobody would want to marry me, although i’ll be doing the cooking, been serving women knuckles sandwiches for about 4 years now. seeing gay people hold hands and kiss each other in a church is like when i stay the night at my best friends house i sneak into his 1 year old baby’s room and cum in his face while everyone’s sleeping. there’s a reason why it’s illegal.

Gay marriage creates no precedence for polygamy, so long as the law is reworded such that it maintains that only 2 consenting adults can enter the contract of marriage. Laws against marriage between siblings already exist to prevent just that, and if there were going to be a big push for such marriages, it would already exist. Dogs can not legally consent, so any concerns regarding people marrying them aren’t really all that valid.

It’s more than that. Here in Canada there is a court case going on about a guy citing gay marriage laws for a polygamy charge, if gay marriage laws are cited for polygamy it’s just a matter of time before other perversions start getting in and citing these laws to gain acceptance. Next thing you know there will be a court battle to define marriage as between anybody anywhere because someone will want to marry their sister or their dog.

Whether churches should be required to lease out their spaces for weddings regardless of who’s actually marrying, I think, is a seperate issue. The marriage equality fight, by and large, revolves around the piece of paper legally recognized as a contract, AKA a marriage license. That is what people want, and what we’re fighting for here. The details of particular ceremonies, including what buildings they may take place in, are not really relevant to this debate.

Yeah because no Church has been sued by a gay couple for refusing a ceremony or use of their grounds….

marriages exist in just about every culture on the planet, in one way or another. I’m confused, you say marriage is a christian idea, yet you then go on to say “their [sic] should be seration [sic] of church and state”. If this is so, then whether or not wedding is a christian idea, it shouldn’t matter in considering the issue of marriage as a civil contract.

A medal for heroism is not a civil contract entered into by 2 consenting adults. Nice try, but as long as marriage exists as a civil contract recognized by the government, there’s no valid excuse for keeping certain people from entering that contract, based solely on their gender. As far as the sanctity of marriage is concerned, that’s something for specific churches or religious groups to be concerned with, not the government. We’re just asking to get a license, not a wedding in a church.

Here is a thought….To preserve the definition of marriage, why not just change the law books and stricken the use of the word marriage. Then legally we won’t need a Prop 8 and government wouldn’t need to spend money deciding how to define it.
Sounds stupid? Which do you think sounds more stupid, my solution or playing ping pong with the legality of same sex marriage?
By the way, great video.

Prop 8 was to hold up the sanctity/tradition of Marriage defined as being between 1 man & 1 woman. By no means was it supposed to solve marriage problems and by no means would it perfect marriage. Prop 8 was not about discrimination but about the definition of marriage to be held up so as not to demean the institution. Kind of like if we gave a purple heart to everyone who wanted one whether they served in the military or not. That would take the value out of a medal given for heroism

While I do agree that we gays have it better now than African Americans did in the 50’s and 60’s, there was a time, not that long ago, when gay people didn’t have it so great. Even now, many of us are beaten, intimidated, and harrassed for simply being ourselves. “Basically the same rights” is just simply not good enough in a country which bills itself the “Land of the Free”

Despite the fact that I got a chuckle out of this and the fact that Lisa just plain old rocks, we all know that this was an awful representation of what prop8 was all about.

I’ve been married for 25 yrs. in fact we spend several days in San Francisco at the Fairmont Hotel to celebrate the event. I’m 52, She’s 60!!!!!! and no kids!!!, we both have pensions, both retired, home, and vehicles paid off. I’m first to admit the single life wasn’t as portrayed in most B.S movies, it sucked too! So here we have it, marriage, and single life in reality suck! what the fuck is the third choice??
Both of our Families are fucked up too!

this is all well and good in NORMAL people, but my husband has a personality disorder and you could tell him this till you are blue in the face…he doesn’t “get it” doesn’t want to get it, and I’ve found someone new and have no problem believing I could find other “someones new”
