Forgetting Valentines Day is a Setup for Misery… How to Avoid the Downfall

Forgetting Valentines Day is a Setup for Misery… How to Avoid the Downfall

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 27, 2012

Dr. Bonnie Eaker Weil, PhD, author of Make Up Don’t Break Up warns couples that Valentine’s Day can be a setup for misery. “Each year, many women anticipate romantic gestures from their husbands only to be disappointed when their lover forgets to acknowledge Valentine’s Day,” says Dr. Bonnie who adds that husband’s who forget the upcoming romantic holiday is probably not accidental.

“Ignoring Valentine’s Day is a symptom of an underlying issue. He may have some anger, resentment, doesn’t want to be told what to do, feels under-appreciated or has negative feelings about his wife, but is clueless about the source,” Dr. Bonnie explains.

“Examples of comments a husband will make when trying to avoid giving a gift or creating a romantic evening are: ‘Valentine’s Day is a Hallmark Holiday,’ referring to the belief that the holiday was created to benefit retail merchants. This avoidance and excuse making causes hurt feelings and romantic moments are sabotaged while underlying feelings go unexposed.”

Dr. Bonnie reminds couples that using Smart Heart dialogue, (outlined in Make Up Don’t Break Up with accompanying DVD Falling in Love and Staying in Love) will open up the lines of communication, create emotional intimacy with empathetic gestures, and help clear up issues brewing under the surface of the relationship.

Dr. Bonnie recommends couples talk openly and express their feelings using Smart Heart skills. Avoiding Valentine’s Day the holiday dedicated to lovers creates missed opportunities for intimacy on all levels. When couples engage in romantic activities, Oxytocin the feel good hormone bonds their union.

“A man is cheating himself out of pleasure when he resists honoring his wife on Valentine’s Day, yet it can be a common occurrence, repeated yearly. This in itself is a wake-up call that the marriage needs help. So, in a way, Valentine’s Day is a litmus test of marital health. If issues remain unresolved, please seek counseling before resentments and anger builds,” Dr. Bonnie advises.

If a woman feels her husband is merely forgetful, or a poor shopper, and the relationship is in otherwise good shape, Dr. Bonnie recommends the wife take initiative, mention the holiday beforehand, suggest a shared shopping experience where they both indulge each other, or purchase a gift for him in advance as a loving gesture and reminder.

Dr. Bonnie Eaker Weil (Dr. Bonnie) is a relationship expert who was named by Psychology Today as one of America’s best therapists, and by New York Magazine as one of New York City’s best therapists. Known as “The Adultery Buster” and the “No. 1 Love Expert,” she is the best-selling author of Adultery: The Forgivable Sin (adapted into a Lifetime movie starring actress Kate Jackson), Make Up Don’t Break Up, Finding and Keeping Love for Singles and Couples (Revised edition Feb 2010, including DVD How to Fall in Love and Stay in Love for Singles and Couples), Can We Cure and Forgive Adultery?, Staying Not Straying, How Not to (S)mother Your Man and Keep a Woman Happy, and Financial Infidelity (Making Money Sexy).

Polar Faith – Fundraiser of the Year Comes From Canada

Polar Faith – Fundraiser of the Year Comes From Canada

Edmonton, Alberta (PRWEB) December 20, 2011

Canadian “philanthropreneurs” Sorin Mihailovici and Matt Cook have taken a leap of faith and embarked in the ultimate of rogue travels: choosing their next destination by none other than the blind-folded throw of a dart at a world map. Their challenge would serve to not only find a way to travel in a fashion that every adventurer wishes, but to create an opportunity to raise money for whichever land or people that they would encompass. The dart’s destination: 2 degrees south of the North Pole. Svalbard to be exact – the northernmost archipelago of Norway, home to 3000 polar bears. This is how Polar Faith was born.

Whats on the agenda? Just saving every polar bear in the world. Putting their creative minds to the test, in just six short weeks these two have managed to win over the hearts of WWF (World Wildlife Fund), collect and attain sponsors such as Canada Goose and Silver Jeans Co. to provide all of their Arctic and travel wear needed, convince a professional videographer to come along to film and produce the entire project, launch a new website and blog (http://www.polarfaith.com), play host to an international fundraiser, and finally reach out to over 100 of the world’s major travel companies for bidding on title sponsor and “presenter” of the project, with first-choice availability on their next planned dart throw in February, 2012. The bidding for the present title sponsor is still open and will end on December 21st at 5:00pm, GMT+7.

Mainly, the traveling trendsetters are planning to raise money by producing high quality commercial-shorts for major world brands, which will include the filming of six to eight-second creative commercial clips shot in the arctic on location. The top 50 selected clips will form a film reel to be released on all major social media outlets with promotional plans to help pick up virally. They will use Zinger Productions of Vancouver Island to film and produce these clips.

Secondly, the crew takes requests to film personalized video greetings to send as messages to the world, from any business or person who gives a donation online before the trip. So whether you want to brand or show off your business in a film reel, ask a hand in marriage or simply say a quick hi or happy birthday to a loved one in a way you never have before, Sorin and Matt are ready, willing and able to deliver… with a little help from you to save the bears.

The official fundraiser started on December 16th with the launch of their official website – http://www.polarfaith.com. “From every small donation will get we will donate five dollars per polar bear. Our goal is to pay for every polar bear in the world, and there are about 20,000 of them”, says Sorin Mihailovici.

“We want to give something back to everybody who supports us and, subsequently, the polar bears. We’ve created what we think is a great and unique business model for both ourselves and our sponsors – nobody will be disappointed”, adds Matt Cook.

“The packages are extremely entertaining. Besides producing the high-end videos, Matt and Sorin will serenade your wife on your behalf, send you heating pads for this winter, prank your boss, or call your grandma. They will even get you a polar bear adopted. To me, it’s worth every penny, especially since it’s done for a great cause”, assures Ryan Jespersen, co-anchor of Breakfast Television, on Citytv.

For more information on this adventure, visit: http://www.polarfaith.com. For media interviews or other questions please contact Sorin and Matt at: (250) 896.1264 or at: info(at)polarfaith(dot)com

New Book Helps Re-Spark Hope in the Home

New Book Helps Re-Spark Hope in the Home

Maitland, FL (PRWEB) January 11, 2012

The modern family faces many pressures. Often fragile marriages or parent-child relationships are held together by mere strings and can fall apart at any given moment. Band-aids, paperclips and rubber bands can only work for so long to keep the threads of family together. Lance D. Sparks new book, God’s Hope for Your Home ($ 16.99, paperback, 978-1-61904-402-9; $ 26.99, hardcover, 978-1-61904-403-6), helps readers understand that the Word of God offers more than temporary fixes for human struggles. Sparks explains that there is hope for every individual’s home life no matter how serious the problems or how deep the conflicts may seem.

“Keeping the Word of God at the center of the family circle is not something that can be done part time like a hobby, nor is it an easy goal,” states the author. “For many years I had a desire to produce a book that could be used as a guide to help families grow in their relationship with the Lord and with one another. While this book in no way contains all you need to know about marriage, nor will it answer all your questions about parenting, it does promise to be unlike most other books written on the subject.”

Lance D. Sparks received his training at Washington Bible College, Lanham, Maryland and at Grace Theological Seminary. He is the Senior Pastor of Christ Community Church in West Covina, California. He lives with his wife and six of their eight children in an area near the church. Pastor Lance’s personal desire is to motivate believers to follow the foremost commandment, “and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength (Mark 12:30).” He is also the Bible teacher on Living Word Radio Broadcast Ministry in Southern California.

Xulon Press, a division of Salem Communications, is the world’s largest Christian publisher, with more than 8,000 titles published to date. Retailers may order God’s Hope for Your Home through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors. The book is available online through xulonpress.com/bookstore, amazon.com, and barnesandnoble.com.
