Dealing with Marriage Trouble ? Tips for Couples in Conflict

Marriage can be the most fulfilling and frustrating relationship you’ll ever experience. Many couples face struggles in their marriage and they end up dealing with conflict that they just can’t seem to resolve. If you and your partner are struggling with marriage trouble, tips are available that can help you smooth things over so you feel more connected again. You don’t have to continually feel frustrated in your relationship with your spouse anymore. You can begin making positive changes today.

One of the most helpful marriage trouble tips for couples is to open the lines of communication. This seems obvious and is something you’ve likely already tried. The problem for many couples is they don’t fully understand how to effectively communicate with each other. Simply sitting down and talking through your troubles may seem logical, but it may not get you two back to the loving place you want to be. Most couples fight when they talk openly about things because they don’t really listen to what their partner is saying. Instead they attack them and go on the defense when they feel they are being accused of bad behavior. Make a promise to one another that from now on you’ll listen when the other speaks. Give each other an opportunity to share what you’re feeling without interruption. Then absorb what your partner shares with you so you can learn from it and the relationship can grow. If you both are committed to improving the marriage, you need to adjust to the idea that criticism can be constructive.

Another great tip that can help you and your partner solidify your commitment to your relationship is to start putting each other first again. When a couple settles into married life, they sometimes look past the needs of their partner in favor of other things. There’s a lot to deal with in most marriages including the daily demands of raising children, tending to work issues and balancing the needs of the household. You have to make a renewed commitment to put each other first. You can do this by setting aside time each evening to talk about your day. Going on dates again is a great way for a couple to reconnect on an emotional level. If you feel that your marriage is starting to suffer because you’ve been neglecting each other, now is the time to change that.

Couples can love one another and yet find themselves drifting apart and headed for a divorce. There are steps you can take, with or without the aid of your spouse to get your marriage back into the loving place it once was. You can save your marriage and rebuild it into a more connected, satisfying relationship.

Divorce does not have to be your only option. Even if it feels as though your relationship can’t be saved because of the ongoing conflicts between you and your spouse, it can be. There are techniques that you can begin using today that will not only stop a divorce, but will help also you build a stronger and more loving marriage.

This film chronicles the final days of the on-the-ground campaign to protect marriage equality in Maine. The Democratic National Committee ignored the fight to protect marriage for all couples in Maine, neglecting to donate funds to the cause (even though they reportedly raised over a million dollars from gay donors in June of this year) or to mobilize potentially thousands of volunteers through its Organizing for America arm. The DNC even sent emails to voters in Maine urging them to help with Jon Corzine’s failed gubernatorial reelection in New Jersey, potentially diverting needed volunteers, but also showing that they deemed the fight for marriage equality unworthy of their attention. Marriage Counseling Doesn?t Work

When I sought to help married couples, it was because of my experience with the family law court system. I saw for myself how destructive it is for families and our society. It is like a predatory virus. As soon as you’re exposed to it, the door is open for tremendous suffering. It has been perpetuating itself through an unholy alliance with marriage counselors and clinical psychologists.

Marriage counseling is regulated. In California and probably most states the license is only available to those who are certified by state boards. In order to pass you must be trained in western psychology; no other modality is accepted. Unfortunately, their record of resuscitating troubled marriages is pathetic (under 6% success rate, I have heard).

Others who are legally allowed to help are lawyers and religious leaders. When I began my practice of helping marriages with an approach I invented, I was told by my lawyers I could go to jail.

]]>

So what?…

I needed to test my science and snuck under the radar by remaining a mediator. My own success rate was nearly 100%.

So allow me to “mediate” you…

Every marriage counselor has a list of divorce lawyers and mediators they will refer you to after they have “done all they could” for you. When you get to divorce court, clinical psychologists who were trained in the same schools as the counselors who failed you, will now decide what is best for your kids.

One parent will likely be condemned and the other will be seen as a victim. Your children will get it.  One of you, one of the two foundational pillars of their existence, will be seen as flawed and not good enough. Or, in a “better” scenario, their parents will be at odds for years to come.

Marriage counseling works less then a broken clock. Its focus is on the negatives in your marriage when you need to shift your focus to the positives and stay there. Now that I have written what I think is a manual for marriage, I rarely work with couples. It is far simpler to be happy in marriage then anyone thinks possible. Reading the lessons is usually all anyone needs. Some folks don’t even need the lessons. They just need to remember they married the best person on Earth.

Paul Friedman’s entry into the business of helping couples mend their marriages began with a very rough personal experience with divorce. He discovered the truth from his clients: they only sought divorce because the help they found to stay together didn’t work.

Marriage Counseling Expert Warns Husbands in Marriage Separation to Stop and Think Before Springing a Valentine’s Day Surprise

Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) January 23, 2006

In the weeks proceeding February 14th, numerous husbands who are in a marriage separation agonize over what to do on Valentine’s Day. Should they buy a present for their wife, send flowers, or just send a card instead? Or should they ignore the special day and do nothing?

“It’s a difficult call to make,” says marriage counseling coach Nancy Wasson. “Wives have varying reactions that range from delight to rage. Some are thrilled to receive flowers or candy while others get agitated if the spouse even sends a card.”

Wasson continues by saying, “What seems to enrage many spouses is the presumption that they want a romantic gesture from the spouse. They may be unsure about whether they want to remain married and if they are ‘in love’ with their partner or not.”

According to Wasson, the wives often interpret the gifts and cards as pressure or manipulation on the part of the husband. “They don’t want to give the husband the impression that they welcome the romantic gestures or that they have reciprocal feelings. So they get stressed and react with anger instead.”

Wasson recalls a wife whose husband sent a dozen red roses to her office on Valentine’s Day. “She was as mad as a hornet,” shares Wasson. “She was absolutely furious with her mate for putting her in the position of having to listen to her co-workers talk about what a sweet husband she had.”

So how does a husband who is in a marriage separation figure out what to do on Valentine’s Day? Wasson offers the following tips:

1. If your wife says that she loves you like a “friend” or “brother” and doesn’t have romantic feelings for you, don’t send a gift or card on Valentine’s Day. Don’t do anything to acknowledge the day because it will only make things worse.

2. If your wife says she’s not sure if she still loves you or not, then the door is open slightly. You might give her something moderate and more low-key than roses, such as a bouquet of mixed fresh flowers or tulips, or a box of candy. If you include a card, make it more on the funny side than ultra-romantic.

3. If you and your wife still flirt with each other and it’s obvious that the sexual attraction is still there, then you’re probably safe to go “all out” by presenting her with a dozen roses, candy, and a romantic card. You might even consider including a gift certificate to a day spa.

4. If you’re still not sure, you can check things out by asking your wife ahead of time if she would be offended if you sent her a gift or card for Valentine’s Day. Say that you want to respect her feelings, and that’s why you’re asking. This is bound to get you some extra points in the “good will” relationship bank.

“The key,” says Wasson, “is to put yourself in your wife’s place. It’s important to be sensitive to her feelings, even if you don’t understand them. That’s an important step to take in an unhappy marriage when you’re trying to deal with a marriage separation and stop divorce. Respect is essential.’

Marriage counselor Nancy Wasson, Ph.D., has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for more than twenty years. She coaches couples in unhappy marriages and provides immediate help through the privacy of telephone and email consultations. She is the author of “Keep Your Marriage: What to Do When Your Spouse Says ‘I Don’t Love You Anymore!’ ” She offers a free weekly marriage advice newsletter at http://www.KeepYourMarriage.com.

I often hear from wives who have sort of checked out of their marriages even though they may still be living with their husbands as part of a family. They are usually sort of going through the motions. I think that this is partly due to the fact that they suspect that nothing can be done about the love that has been lost. In short they suspect that they aren’t in love with their husbands anymore. And although many will tell you that they don’t want to take the drastic step of divorce they aren’t sure if the feelings can return either.

Many couples are seeking how to stop divorce. The chances of a newlywed couple suffering a divorce somewhere down the road in today’s society runs about 50-50. People get divorced for a variety of reasons. But unfortunately one of the most common is infidelity and the broken trust it creates.

Pornography is one of the fastest growing addictions. Married couples are beginning to introduce it into their marriage. But is this healthy?

There are couples who decide to divorce because of an affair in a haste decision and more than 80 percent regretted their decision on divorce after an affair. Should you divorce just because of one extra-marital affair? How can you make the most out of a divorce?
